A Bit of an Update

Wow, it's been almost a MONTH since I last posted. Things are crazy busy, with me being back to work full time, and a mommy of two!

There hasn't been a lot to report around here, anyway. Kevin is still not walking/crawling, although he'll stand up well if you get him into position. He's also not saying any new words yet . . . but he's never been much of a talker. He is doing well in daycare, though. It only took him a few days to adjust. All the new germs he was exposed to in the first week or so wreaked havoc in the whole family, and we were all sick for about 2 weeks straight, but at least we're in a lull right now. Food-wise, Kevin prefers to feed himself; and if he gets bored with the food, or doesn't like it, he throws it over the side of his tray, and laughs! (I don't think it's funny.) His favourite entertainment is still Andrea. He laughs at her all the time.

Andrea hasn't made any potty training progress. Admittedly, I've been so busy adjusting to working-mom mode that I haven't had time to focus on it. But she really doesn't have any desire to use the potty, no matter what we do--stubborn little miss. She also likes to say "NO" a lot right now. (I thought we got over that last year?) On the positive side, Andrea is doing fantastic in daycare. We get great reports all the time, and she even has a best friend now! I guess they have to eat together, play together, sit in church together . . . Andrea even calls her friend "San-Andrea." She still loves Dora, being a princess, and singing and dancing. She also enjoys making Kevin laugh. When she realizes he is watching her and laughing, she really hams it up! It's too cute.

They both started their new swim classes last Saturday. Andrea is by herself with a teacher, and 3 other kids her age. She took to it right away. The tot pool where we go is the perfect height for her--the deepest part is just past her chin. She also has a best friend in that class; there are two boys and two girls, and her and the other little girl were holding hands right away. They're so cute! I'll have to get some photos soon. Kevin is also back in swim class, with Daddy. He loves to splash in the water, and his favourite part is Daddy "jumping" him in from the side of the pool. He is a little nervous about swimming on his back, but most little ones are.

Okay, now for the fun stuff. Here are some pictures and videos I've captured over the past few weeks, of Andrea and Kevin doing their thing.

Watch Kevin's reactions to the food. They happened quickly, but I laughed so hard. By the way, Kraft Dinner is officially his favourite meal now.

Coming after the camera: "I'm ready for my close-up! Cheese!"

relaxing with Diego and morning bubba before leaving for daycare

He stands pretty well, once you get him into position; but check out those feet: they turn in, just like Andrea's did. He does like standing, though, as long as he's not tired.

***

She's always so serious in front of the camera. (She was playing on the floor with Party Dora, until Mommy interrupted her game.)

However, if Andrea knows she's on video, she gets really silly. I was filming her dancing like crazy to the music of Kevin's toy, and when it stopped, she had a surprising (and gross, but incredibly funny) final move of her own. (You'll need to crank up the sound to get the full effect of the video.)

Go Fly a Kite, Daddy!

Um, literally . . . Daddy flew a kite today. :))

Daddy had his Little Brother, Sean, over today. They decided to put together the parrot kite that Grama Marty and Grampa Rick gave Andrea for her birthday. Since it was Andrea's kite, they invited her to come to the park with them. Since it was a beautiful afternoon, I invited myself and Kevin to tag along, too. It was a good thing I went; Andrea quickly got tired of watching Daddy and Sean trying to coax the kite to stay airborne. So, I took her and Kevin over to the swings and slides to keep them entertained.

"I see my shadow! It's swinging with me!"

"One day, I shall conquer these monkey bars . . ."

Daddy and Sean had a difficult time keeping that parrot flying! Through trial and error, they deduced that the parrot had a natural pull to the right (and consequently, the earth).

So, they experimented with different arrangements of the kite's tails, and finally got the parrot to stay aloft for a respectable amount of time!
