Andrea's Special Blanket & Amusing Themselves

Andrea's Special Blanket

Back in the winter, Gram and Papa brought Andrea a special Dora shirt that lights up, as a souvenir from their trip to Florida. Andrea loved the shirt, but it was just a bit too tight! I got the idea to clip out the front of the shirt and send it to my mom (Grama Marty) to see if she could find some new way to use the fabric for Andrea. Well, for Andrea's birthday, Grama Marty purchased a plain pink fleece snuggle blanket. Then, when they arrived here for their annual summer visit to Canada, and gave the kids their birthday gifts, Grama Marty explained that she would sew Dora fabric on the blanket while she was visiting.

Now, this blanket is extra special: it incorporates a gift from two sets of grandparents: the shirt from Gram and Papa, and the blanket from Grama Marty and Grampa Rick! (not to mention it's pink, purple, and has a flashing Dora on it . . .)

Andrea was really impressed by Grama Marty's travel sewing machine. Naturally, she had a lot of questions about how it worked!

Here's Andrea enjoying the finished product. :))

Amusing Themselves

It never ceases to amaze me, what these kids can come up with to amuse themselves. More often than not, I hear them laughing together, and walk in the room to find them engaged in some odd, but extremely entertaining, little game they've come up with for themselves. Here's just two examples:

How many sippy cups can you fit into your mouth at one time? Or, do I look like a walrus with fat tusks? or Superfly? Can I talk with both cups in my mouth? Can I drink out of both cups at the same time? (Answer: Sort of, but who cares? We think it's hilarious!)

***
Game: Using the shadows of the newel posts, you can only step on the lines. If you step on the sunshine, you will burn your feet, and Andrea will yell at you. Hop from one line to the next, and it's best if you do it on your tip-toes.

For an extra challenge: stand on one side of the sun/shadow lines, and with a huge leap, launch yourself over all the sunshine strips at once!

I love that idea about the blanket...I'll have to remember that one. I love even more how it brought two gifts from two sets of grandparents together, how special!
Your kids are adorable as always. It's so fun watching the kids grow close together eh?
